Melt The ICE: West Michigan Comes Together with Music to Support Families Impacted by ICE

Grand Rapids, Michigan — February 3, 2026Kent County Indivisible (KCI) is bringing together local musicians, organizers, and community members for Melt The ICE, a benefit concert dedicated to supporting The SECOM Community Resource Center, Movimiento Cosecha Grand Rapids, and Kent County Indivisible, on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Fountain Street Church. To arrange the concert, KCI is partnering with Grand Rapids Sounds of Solidarity, a newly formed organization that helps musicians impact their community.

  • The Bootstrap Boys
  • Cabildo
  • Epcya
  • Jeff Schroeder & Friends

Together, the performers will create an afternoon of music, solidarity, and community connection. All net proceeds from the concert will benefit two organizations supporting families affected by I.C.E. — SECOM Community Resource Center and Movimiento Cosecha GR — as well as help fund protest and resistance work done by Kent County Indivisible.

"People are struggling, and we couldn't sit back and let it happen any longer," said Dan Terpstra, Event Manager. "This benefit show is about sharing great music as a way to get out of the house, have some fun, and show up for our neighbors to make a real impact."

Event Experience

In addition to live music, attendees can enjoy:

  • Great local street food and beverages
  • United voices from important locals
  • Information booths from allied organizations

The event is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend and support the cause.

About the Organizations

Melt The ICE

Melt the ICE is a benefit concert supporting West Michigan families affected by I.C.E., using music, solidarity, and collective joy to raise funds and awareness for SECOM Community Resource Center, Movimiento Cosecha GR, and Kent County & Flat River Indivisible. United in grief and resistance, we sing, dance, and make a joyous noise — standing together with families harmed by failed immigration policies to unite the community.

Sounds of Solidarity (GR-SOS)

Sounds of Solidarity (GR-SOS) uses music, conversation, and shared space to serve the common good — building connection, dignity, and solidarity through our shared humanity. The team includes Charlie Snedeker, Dan Terpstra, John Haines, Mike Miller, and Nathan O'Connell, along with a growing number of concerned and dedicated team members from within the community.
